THE NIGHTMARE CHRONICLES by Douglas Clegg
Horror Short Stories have a new master: Douglas Clegg.
In The Nightmare Chrinicles we are treated to 13 stories (of course!) of horror which are sewn within a larger story...a story that will keep you up at night!
It all begins when a young boy is held captive in an old tenement, and from there the 13 nightmares unfold. A mother and her adult sons have kidnapped the boy and plan to kill him. The only trouble is, they've picked the wrong boy. Because this boy is not what he at first seems.
The boy can see unearthly visions of fantastic and frightening worlds, and he has the skills to transfer his visions into the heads of his captors. How could his kidnappers know that the ransom would be their own souls? Because, as the visions continue they begin to become real.
It is thesee visions that are the stories of the Nightmare Chronicles.
The stories include: A young man searching for his dead wife among the crumbling buildings of Manhattan...a journalist seeking the ultimate evil in a plague-ridden outpost of India...ancient rituals beginning anew with the mystery of a teenage girl's disappearance...and in a hospital for the criminally insane, there is only one doorway to salvation...
And with The NIGHTMARE CHRONICLES you get a different fright with every story -- and each and every one here packs a huge punch. The pick of the crop is "The Fruit of Her Womb" about a mystery cult in a very ordinary small town. Plus "White Chapel", about a woman who goes looking for a demonic killer and a goddess in India, comes a close second.
Not only are the stories great, the writing is excellent! This is one hell of a ride through terror at its best. Vivid imagery, sharp characters and twists aplenty!
You wanna get scared? Read The Nightmare Chronicles!
